This website documents the work of the Green Party Asylum and Migration Policy Working Group, and contains the latest official policies, campaigns and news.
Note: the actual policies listed here are a verbatim copies of official Green Party policy, as passed by Conference in 2021 and 2023; nothing else hosted or pointed to by this website is party policy. Migration policy is complex. Please do not quote anything out of context.
If you need a short summary then our policy is to – Implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so.

Asylum and Migration Policy Working group
As an official Green Party working group, our policy areas are Refugee and Asylum, and Migration. We have rewritten both these policies in recent years.
Our group is made up of campaigners, activists, academics, lawyers, and people working in the migration sector. Many of whom have lived experience of the current UK system.
We work closely with campaign and policy organisations that work with migrants, developing networks of advocacy for fair and humane policies.
We meet monthly and focus on the following activity areas:
- Maintain and update the Refugee and Asylum, and Migration policies for the Green Party.
- Support Green Party elected representatives with information and research.
- Train Green Party members on our policies including developing briefing papers.
- Develop campaigns with other organisations.
